*** FIXED *** Excessive amount of RAM used by WB

Post by tommy888 »

I got some crashes with WB x64 and noticed that it uses a large amount of RAM. It starts form 700MB and the end of RAM is probably the limit - computer shut down the WB.
It happens slowly after I open an image gallery or whatever I do with the project using WB. I tried to open WB using Nvidia graphic card with no effect.

I use many other RAM/CPU consuming apps like Premiere PRO / AE / PS etc haven't noticed such behaviour.

I have iCore 7 (6th) / 16GB DDR4 / NVIdia 960 - Lenovo Y700

What's the reason for that and how can it be solved. Thanx

Strange it doesn't use processor recourses at all and the usage of RAM does not fall down, only goes up anytime I do something with the project. So I close down the WB and restart again when the RAM usage is over 10 GB.
I tried to remove all antiviruses. thinking it was a problem, reinstalled WB already twice. Without any result. Maybe someone has similar problem. They might altered Windows settings or sth changed after update/upgrade of Windows Pro 10.

Maybe you have enabled the 'Restart Manager' in Tools -> Options -> Backup ?

Note that if you use many images then this may require lots of memory. Of course, this is not specific to WWB.

Thank you Pablo,
I have set "Never" everywhere - (NO backup) Restart Manager (Never) - but as I saw backups it is created every one minute - 4 backups. I set 0 backups now. What is strange it uses 0% or little processor resources 1-5% . The RAM usage does not go down even if I don't do anything or change the page to one without a gallery.

I remember I couldn't install the gallery extensions properly till the end but they were visible in WB.

If you need further assistance then please share a demo project and describe the exact steps to reproduce this behavior.

But as mentioned, if you use lot of images then lots of memory may be allocated because to be able to display the image then need to be loaded and decompressed in memory.

Hi Pablo, I've been trying to figure out where the issue is, but unfortunately, I haven't managed so far.
It's an update of an old project. Added carousels and layers, animations etc. I'd like to keep this project as close to original one as possible. My friend does not want to it to be available publicly. Can I send you a link to a zipped project to your general contact email? What's the email address if so? Mine is tommy888@op.pl.

Thanx in advance.

I noticed that when I scroll project up and down the use of RAM is increasing. Tried to set the background to transparent - without any positive results.
I also tried ot switch to NVidia GPU no results.
