Working on 2 computers

Post by GarlanAgencement »

Hello,
I have upgraded WWB to 15 this week.
I installed WWB15 on my desktop and then laptop computer.
On my laptop I can only create new project and open old project (on which one I do not work since a long time...).
I can't open my current project (Website of my company) and also create a new project from a template. When I try, WWB crash. This mean working area grey, no action on any button and I can't close WWB (only by Task Manager...).
Is there anything special when using 2 computers? I close WWB on the computer that I don't use.
Can you help me please?
Thank you.

PS: I already read many things on your help topics (Using 2 computers, project transfer...)

Are you using the latest update?
Do all computers run have the same version of the software?
Did you install all extensions used by the project?
Are all computers Windows 10?

On Windows 7, did you install Direct2d support?

Yes I already checked. I tried to update Windows7 for Direct2D but my computer is already updated (I did post a topic this week for another problem and you already asked me for Direct2D). That's why I tried to work on my laptop instead.

Then maybe your firewall or virus scanner blocks the software?
If it work on one computer then it should also work on another.

In fact, it takes a very very long time to open... to long...
I tried with a copy of my website with only the index page. And it also takes a very long time to open.
But I still don't understand why it is solong. I tried to disconnect firewall and aloso Avast. It's the same.

How many extensions do you have installed?

There can be several reasons for this. For example:
- you have installed lots of extensions so it take a long time to load them
- you have installed lots of fonts
- you have installed lots of icon libraries
- a firewall, virus scanner or anti-randsomeware software blocks or slows down the application

It takes a long to open the project not the software. I have 38 extensions, but I only use 2 or 3 on the page that I try to open. On my desktop computer (which starts to be old and working on Windows 7), WWB opens immediatly and the full project as well.
I use 3 different fonts.
There are no icons libraries added.
There is maybe still something with firewall virus scanner...

But what does look strange to me is that an old project that I didn't modify or work on for many year perfectly open...

To summarized, I have a problem only with the project that I have modified with my new WWB15 installed on my deskstop and that I have transfered on my laptop to work on it. All the others are openning immediatly.

Maybe the project has lots of images?
Or maybe the project loads the images from a network drive?

If you need assistance with your project then please share the file.

For me, your project loads within a second.

But I have noticed that you are using the SVG Image extension. This is a pretty heavy extension because it uses MSHTML to render the image.
WWB15 natively supports SVG, so you do not need this extension anymore.

I tried to load the project on my laptop (on which on one have problems) after removing images, svg file, some text with 'special' font. Nothing change.
I tried with a new demo project with images different fonts, it opens within a second.

It looks like my file project is corrupt or has a bad setting...
