Website publishing - not working

Post by alex4orly »

This is a desparate message!

My WWB project will no longer publish, not the entire site, nor a single page

I am on a deadline, what should I check?

First time it happened.

I checked one of my other projects, it publishes OK...

Help...

Can you please be more specific?
Is there an error?
Did you change something? if you did not change anything yourself then it's usually a server/host related issue.

Is the other project using the same server details?

Maybe the host changed to SFTP and you could try using that?

There is no error, the Test and Explore work fine
I tried publishing locally - the same, it doesn't publish the page, just the .js file related to it

Can it be a problem in the project file? What?

This is a stupid comment but my only guess... you did save before publishing, right??

Nothing is stupid question...Yes, I saved, exited, got back in - but the same result
The preview works just fine - but the Publish DOES NOTHING
Even publishing to my local drive, does nothing

So, all the things about server problem, are out of the equation - must be something gone wrong in the project.

Here is the log of the last attempt:

Is this a very large project? Are you using the 64 bit or the 32 bit version? If you dare... perhaps try using the opposite?

Try changing the FTP engine to Winsock in Publish options.

NO, I was to be done by 7:00 am, and I AM NOT YET
I started a new project, and am copying pages from my original project to it, all the master frame menu links are gone...
The original project was already set to Winsock
I am using only the 32 bit version, the things that are written about the 64bit got me concerned and I never tried it.

Yes, the original project is huge - the project file is over 8MB, the new one is only 1.8MB - is that the reason?
If I download the 64 bit and install it, will it ovverride the 32 bit - or run alongside - if so, I can try it on a copy of the project?

Thank you all for your input, will wait and see

It would be easiest if a true pro (I'm just being a fisherman here) could answer this for once and for all:
If I download the 64 bit and install it, will it ovverride the 32 bit - or run alongside - if so, I can try it on a copy of the project?

It does NOT override the 32 bit.

The 64-bit version installs in C:\Program Files.
The 32-bit version installs in C:\Program Files (x86)
They can run alongside each other.
But read the following regarding the 64-bit version:

You said that the project now works so why are you considering the 64-bit version when it seems you are under pressure?

I must add:
One thing to be aware of when running both versions is the version that Windows loads when the .wbs file is double-clicked is the version that was installed last.
So if you normally run the 64-bit version but install both versions then it's preferable to always install the 64-bit version last.
It's obviously safer just to open the .wbs file from within WWB.

Thanks for the comments and response.
I have no intention to start with the 64bit now.
But, would like to experiment with it.
Yes, I allways select the web icon first and from it, open the project I want.

One other thing that I am puzzled about, when I imported the pages from my original project into the new blank project, I also imported the master frame, which has in it the menu.

At least half of the menu items were somehow now pointing to the wrong project pages and I have to go through all of them to check...

Why?

Thanks again

My website is not uploading new pages. I just get Internet Exception Error 12003 Details: The server returned extended information 200....(cant read anymore),

I tried to rename the whole website and reloaded the whole thing but only the older pages are visible.
The FTP connection has tested OK. I have contacted my provider but they cant see there is an issue and suggested I contact you guys.

I am trying to publish a relatively simple web page with a form that has about 10 fields on it and using the PHP processor for form processing. It shows correctly when I preview it, when I publish it there are no errors but when you bring the page up in the browser from the server, only half the page loads.

Also, is there a way to get the current date and time automatically put into an editbox or textarea with the user having to choose it?

What is the URL of the page?

Also, can you please not 'hijack' another unrelated post?
