Adding campaign parameters (UTM Tracking Code) in WB

Post by kevindef »

Hello there,

Need your help here please :) ; where do I add campaign parameters (UTM Tracking Code) to URLs in WB so I can track Custom Campaigns in Google Analytics?

This is the code that was generated by Google Campaign URL Builder:
http://www.labourhub.com.au/lead/save-o ... n=lead-ad1

" Lead " is the sub-directory folder in which my campaign landing page is nested
" save-on-labour-hire-cost " is my current page name.

So do I add it to the page name after the "?"

For external links you can just include the parameters in the URL.

For internal links you can use the 'Parameters' option in the link dialog:

Hi Pablo,

I copied and pasted the code to the page name but the start of the code '?' gets cut-off:

?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=lead-ad1

The '? should not be included in the parameters. it is automatically added.

Hi Pablo,

Desperately need your help here. I did a live test with the UTM tracking code at the end of the URL string as suggested but the ' ? ' keeps replacing with a ' - ' and as a result it does not get generated as it should.

Here's the link to the landing page; here you will notice that the URL is still missing the '?'
https://labourhub.com.au/lead/save-heap ... d-ad1.php

Thanks

What exactly did you do?
Where do I look to see the problem?

I add the utm string (?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=lead-ad1) to the end of my page name > rename page > and added all this: save-heaps-on-your-labour-hire-cost-utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=lead-ad1.php - so now this is my page name.

I looked for the problem in the page name and also once published > in the browser. On both occasions, the question mark simply disperse after its been added to the page name.

I have got screen shots but can't find a way to attach them here.

Hope this helps.

Did you add the parameters to the page name? That is not correct.

The parameters should be part of the links to the page, not the page name itself.

Do you mean; add the UTM to the source link? for example; a link that is on a social media platform?

The page name should not include parameters. That does not make any sense.
The parameters should be in the link to the page.
So how do I add it in WB?
Please see my first reply:
For external links you can just include the parameters in the URL.
For internal links you can use the 'Parameters' option in the link dialog.
