fonts

Post by crownfield »

just checked' as an image' on the text block,
and the phone saw the right font.
unchecked again, and republished.

http://studiosessionlive.com/index.html
the home page is a ttf, national-primary.

whole site, all files published
font was uploaded in several formats, every one but woff.
I saw the upload.
(if I try to do anything involving woffs, the program will crash.)

on my pc, the font is right.

iphone no.
(safari)

other pc, no.
(chrome and firefox)

fonts with @type-face are unpredictable,
and I don't understand why.

the ttf was uploaded, and any system which
can use ttf should work.
checked page source in browser.

http://studiosessionlive.com
generated page source code is in error.
font is not Arial, but national-primary. how did Arial get there?
the page code does not match the page content.
"

I do not see any references to @font-face in the page. Are you sure you have configured it correctly?
Without @font-face only web safe fonts can be used.

Re: fonts

I checked,
use fontface,
all fonts except woff,

republished to the site,
http://studiosessionlive.com

same problem.

something is not as clear as it seems,
or something is not working as well as it should.
perhaps a style conflict between text / text block / page.
the font is applied as a style.

I checked the publish log.
I see the fonts uploaded the way I think they should.

and I do not see font-face mentioned,
and I do not see the font mentioned.
I am not getting on the page what I see in the program.

the exact download location is the same location,
http://vircen.com/fonttest/pablo Final SSL New Web temp with problems.wbs

might be easier if screenshots and project files
could be attached in the forums.

This is not possible due to security restrictions. Your link is invalid it should not contain spaces!

allow website wbs files is a problem?
allow screen snapshots is a problem?

my web host allows files and images in their support system,
and their security is top level.
been with then for three decades.

and the same ftp program moved the site files from windows to the linux system.
you would think it would know.

I'm sorry, but I still cannot find the files.

The reason why you cannot upload file to this forum is because it was being misused by some users by uploading files with viruses.
When that happened my web host locked down the website, so it was no longer accessible. I trying to prevent that from happening again.

The issue is that the file name is invalid and cannot be accessed. All that is being asked is that you provide a working url to it so that can be downloaded so it can be checked. So can you please provide a url that is valid and that the file name is also valid so that help can be given.

Thanks for sharing the files.
However, I did not find any issues. The project and font works for me.

A possible reason why it does not work for you, may be because the font was not installed correctly.
Did you install it for all users?

When the font was installed successfully then you should see it in this list (in the registry):
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts

Re: fonts HELP

Post by crownfield »

my web site has the failed pages on it since saturday.
when it could not be fixed,
I added a construction problems on the home page to warn people.

"necessary and sufficient"

I set the option, I think correctly
I managed and set all but woff,
because if I select woff, the publish always fails.

I think the above meets 'necessary and sufficient' to work.
but it does not work.
if not, tell me what I am missing.

clues:
font is uploaded properly
type-face is correct I think.
it does not work.

font-face does not show in the page code.
why?

vircen.com/fonttest is the published page. my browser can see it
both the original and the shortened web builder files are there,
and the short site is published there. name fixed here and there

vircen.com/fonttest/for-pablo_with_problems.wbs is the project file this url downloads the file to you
vircen.com/fonttest/national-primary.ttf is the ttf file on the server.

use the urls and they download to you. they show as downloads now on the bottom of my browser.

I have been trying to solve this for days now.

I see the editor upload the fonts, so it knows they are used.
I see the source page does not know to use font-face.
I see that the source page says to use arial,
instead of national-primary.ttf that it uploaded.
why would it upload the font, and then not use it?

if I selected 'use font-face',
and set all but woff options
what more should I do?
either I missed another option, or editor failed to properly set it.
how could that be?

First note that I have been trying to help you as fast as I can, but without the project there was not much I could do.
So, immediately after I was able to download your project I posted my feedback (on Sunday).

Did you correctly install the font on your system? Because if the font is not installed for all users then the converter tool will not be able to find it and the conversion may fail.
Again, I would like to note that your project works for me, so there is most likely a problem in the way the font is setup on your system.

Re: fonts

Post by crownfield »

I had pages of reply,
and it got lost somehow.

simply,

I republished the whole site to fonttest,
after deleting almost all of the files.
last change is there. fonts are there.
font-face not mentioned in the page source,
and the font does work on the publish computer, but on no other

vircen.com/fonttest/Final-SSL- New-Web-temp-with-problems.wbs

I see wysiwyg publish the font file to the server,
and the font is on the server
the page source code says incorrectly arial,
but on my computer it shows correctly as national-primary.ttf.

I think there is a error,
a conflict between the font applied as a style, as text
and the program gets lost.

I apparently broke a rule doing that,
but have no idea what it is, and no error message.
it shows one thing, and does another.

the big symptoms are-

font face is configured but no mention in the page source code
the page source code says arial, which is in error
but my computer does not use arial, but the correct font.
ttf fonts is uploaded to the server.
font-face is not an uploaded item.
publish computer shows page correctly,
computer on the other desk shows
the arial font the page source call for.

Re: fonts

very interesting!!

I made a second directory, /fonttest2 on vircen.
vircen.com/fonttest2/
many-fonts.wbs is the program. it is in that directory.
(no fonts were uploaded in the upload report?)

I made a new single page, added 3 blocks of text, fonts, and published it.
I looked at the page source.
all three block source looked ok, and the fonts seemed ok

"A" publishing machine always showed the correct font.
even on page 2

text block one failed on the B computer,
text block two and three passed.

so I swapped block one and two.
the problem moved with the block.
I deleted that block and added another.
I kept adding more text blocks, and adding new fonts.
on the "B" computer,
the problem was always with text block 1,
which kept failing.
on more than one page.
with the second page added,
(and maybe the master removed) still no fonts.

font after font is correct.
text block 1 always is wrong.
on page one
never another block, always text block 1 would not format.
the page source always showed the correct font in the code,wb_text*
but text block 1 always failed.

"B" computer:
I added a second page and a masterpage with a page menu.
I added a text line, text 1,
and it also failed.
2nd text block failed on page 2 also.

I took out the masterpage.
page 2 text 1 font worked.
page 2 text 2 font worked.

pablo

yes the font is installed correctly,
and that is why all the other programs like a**be i*d****n can see it and use it.
how could I pick a font that is not installed from a list of installed fonts?

In Windows, there are two ways to install fonts, for the current user and for all users.
If you install the font for the current user then you can use the fonts in applications (via enumeration), but you cannot access data about the font (like the filename, which is required to convert the file to another format).

Do you see the filename in the registry?
