I'm not able to get the elements centered in page

Post by DreamCars-Rental »

For this page below, when you set the adaptive view to 440 px wide for instance, the element (shape, text) are not centered in page. I thought I've done everything which was needed like set the page to "center horizontally", and off course center the elements on the width for this particular BP, but I visibly miss something.

There is a scrollbar at the bottom of the page, this indicates that there are objects outside the page boundaries.

I've checked that too before posting but I couldn't find any object outside the page boundaries
Now to make it even easier to check I've set all the objects to invisible beside one shape and four pictures... still the same behaviour.

To be able to help you, I need the project file so I can see what you have done.

I have found the following issues:
- the content is not center in the available space in breakpoints.
- 'include min width' in Manage breakpoints is not enabled.
See the FAQ:
http://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/forum/ ... 10&t=63817

Also, I recommend to set the Output format of the text objects to 'Default' or 'Include line height'.

You are right it is not done yet in all BP because I started with the 580 BP and saw that it was not working. But since we are trying this using the adaptive view at 440 px, which trigger the 580 BP, the setting of other BP should not play a role, only the 580 come in view.

Anyway not I've deleted all the other BP, deleted all the text elements, and ticked the 'include min width', then uploaded the page again with what's left on it, refreshed, opened the Firefox 'adaptive view' and set the width to 440 px to trigger the 580 BP, still the content is not centred.

Generally in this case when you don't see any changes it is because you are viewing a cached version of your site please refresh your browser cache to see the changes.

@ BaconFries yes sure, this is always the very first thing I do

@ Pablo, not at all, the very same problem is still present. Remember we are talking about the 440 px view... Using the 'adaptative view' from Firefox and setting the width to 440px . The elements are not centred on the width even if there is plenty of space to do so.

I do see some improvement, the content is now center, however there is still a scrollbar at the bottom.
You have a lot of duplicated content for different breakpoints, this makes it very difficult to figure out what you have done exactly.
Also, you did not include the images of your project so all I see on my screen is the black background...

I recommend to reduce the duplicated elements and re-use objects in breakpoints.
For example: most text, shapes and images can be reused in breakpoints, just by making them smaller.
That will make the layout much easier to manage and errors can be found more easily with fewer objects.

Thanks for the ideas Pablo, however all (4) images are not duplicated but reused, as well as the menubar, logo, and stuff that make sense to be reused. The text should not be a big deal and I won't reuse them in the different BP because for me it make a lot of sense to be able to modify the text for smaller views. In some pages you won't have the same text if reading on a 1600 px wide screen or on a 360px wide smartphone display. So having a few pieces of text for each BP let me keep the freedom of modifying the text content for the different BP. In responsive design it should make sense.

Anyway, I finally found where the not centred content and the scroll bar came from :-). It was solved when I manually set the 'Properties' > 'Page width' of each BP to the actual BP size of the BP. Would not be an idea to have this automated ?

Correct, you will have to do that yourself, because the page width does not necessarily need to be the same.
