*SOLVED* Really scared I'm going to mess up something (32-bit/64-bit)

Post by etcbbu » Fri Jan 04, 2019 7:21 pm

Hi all,

I've got several projects/several websites on my system, where I use .WBS files and WYSIWYG Web Builder to work on these projects.

I'm currently using WB Version 14.2.2 , and things are working well.

I want to update to the newest version of the WYSIYWG Web Builder software, which, at *this* time, seems to be listed on the

http://wysiwygwebbuilder.com/download.html

as
Download the latest version of WYSIWYG Web Builder 14 (build date: December 20, 2018)
WYSIWYG Web Builder 14.3 (32-bit version)
WYSIWYG Web Builder 14.3 (64-bit version)
But, I want to really make sure that I download the correct one, and I do not want to mess up all of my projects or anything.

On my system, when I navigate to

My Computer >> Properties

Here is a screenshot of what is shown:

Do I need to download and install the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version?

If something goes wrong after I install this, what can I do to either revert or roll-back my WYSIWYG Web Builder version, or something, such that I can use my .WBS projects again?

The 32bit version is the regular version, the one you are used to...

So I can keep running the 32-bit one, even though my system, there, says, "64-Bit" ?

Exactly right

The 32bit version will run on both 32bit & 64bit machines without issues, so if that is the version you have been using, then simply stick with it

@Pablo and @Psycho -- thank y'all.

Can someone tell me a high-level crash-course on what the point is, in have a 32-bit and a 64-bit version of a piece of software? Is it just that, an operating system that's 64-bit sort of handles the memory allocation associated with running the application / or handles the processes/memory/system resources in a more efficient way or a faster way than running a previous 32-bit version of that same piece of software, or something? Does that mean, in theory there would be fewer crashes, or something, in running a 64-bit version of a piece of software than a 32-bit version of a piece of software or something..?
