Table Col sorting with click on header

Post by rgsmiths » Sun Mar 11, 2018 12:14 am

Pablo,

I see one post back 2006 that there was not a way to sort table col
by clicking on the header of the table... is that still the case?

I have tried to add JS from W3 search but it did not succeed..
my only solution is to make two tables and sort each asc and desc
and then with click on header do a show desc hide asc
etc... any better ideas?

If there is a way sure could use it...

Standard HTML tables do not support sorting.

But, maybe this is useful?

Pablo,

Thankyou for suggestion...
trying it now...
so far looking good for my use...
and now also looking into cms exts as well
seems has a similar approach but oriented to sql databases
however also has csv file access like your suggested ext..

anyway, it looks like may work for my needs, one or the other ext that is...

as always you are helping us when we need it...
how can we thank you enough...
I dont think we can

Thank you is all I can express here, maybe someday I'll be able to share
the product of your help, and it may help others as well...

Question, I am using the Search Site tool, and using jQuery dialog to display results
is there anyway to configure the jQ dialog header text to be more bold??
I can not seem to get it to change with the theme editors settings
stays at about 10 px arial ... color of background does change with theme
but not the heading text... been reading jQuery dialog stuff and looks like may be a
way to do with the javascript command open with arguments???

Is that a valid question since this Search site is in the tools, even though the
output is in the jQuery camp of usage... ie outside of WYSIWYG purview...

Hate to leave that on the table, if you cant help I will understand.

With my thanks and best regards,
Roy

The font-size of the search results can be configured in the Site Search properties.

The size of the dailog title can be overwritten with

Code: Select all

<style>
.ui-dialog .ui-dialog-title
{
   font-family: Arial !important;
   font-size: 16px !important;
}
</style>

Pablo, and all interested

Thought I'd post what Ive settled on for the Search Site jQdialog custom styles
I put this in head tab of frame page that has the Search Site object, and is used for all pages

<style>
.ui-widget-header
{
background:blue;
border: 1px solid black;
}
.ui-button
{
background:#FFFFE0;
border: 1px solid black !important;
}
.ui-dialog-title
{
font-family: Arial !important;
font-size: 18px !important;
color: white !important;
}
.ui-dialog
{
background:#FFFFE0;
border: 1px solid black !important;
font-weight: bold !important;
box-shadow: 3px 3px 4px 1px Grey;
}
</style>

it gives with cupertino page style a nice blue header background, light yellow main background etc...
and the shadow was a nice addition I did not expect but found worked..

also used <b><font color"red">...</font></b>
for result(s), key words, & description in settings, to make them have a bit of a contrast

hope this is helpful for others if needed

could not find a way to make the search results highlight the searched terms
in Descriptions or Titles, it only highlights in the key words areas

have Tools > search index set for meta data... tried page and text, .. like meta data best

wish it would search Categories in meta but maybe that is an option for the future..
