PHP/MySQLi using tables inside layout grids

Post by LJLachance » Sat Feb 17, 2018 10:05 pm

I'm not sure what is happening but - I have a working PHP statement that pulls two pieces of data, one image and one text statement from a row in a MySQLi table. As a standalone page, it works as intended. When I place the code as an HTML Object inside a layout grid, I get one piece of the data (the image) in row one of my table but row two (supposed to be the text) of my table does not show and the rest of the page is gone. Do I need to pull text separately? Or, do I need to specify the text font family and size in my <table> statement in my HTML Object? Or is it not possible to place a table in a layout grid? I know you can't help me with the script itself but some guidance on using the HTML Object containing the table would be appreciated.

If needed I can send the table structure within the PHP statement.

The issue can be seen here: http://206.214.218.15/home_org.php

Thanks

I need to add that I have tried this code on a blank (background page) alone, no layers, no grids - as simply an HTML Object and it does what I want it to do, including the table and the text?? http://206.214.218.15/page1.php

Thanks again

Dear Ljlachance,
Was the image stored in a table inside your database?
I have used a table within layers (using the extension of Mysql Table Editor) and it is totally responsive as may may see: http://www.rpedram.com/biblio_edit.php

If you place HTML text inside a layout grid then you will need to set the font-size for that text, because the layout grid itself has a font-size of 0

Good morning Pablo and thanks for the reply.

The images are not contained inside the database, they are in a separate folder on the server and, the images are working fine.

It's the next row of the HTML Table that seems to cause a problem. I specified the font size and now the text is showing up as planned. It is not inheriting the page properties as the CHARSET for the page is set to UTF-8 (<meta charset="utf-8") which recognizes "special characters" particularly French Language and works fine for normal pages. It's just within the table in the layout grid that it won't see the special characters.

The REAL ISSUE - while the table display's with the image and the text - the entire remainder of the page will not display. For this discussion I have two pages on the server now. First, with the HTML in the layout grid http://206.214.218.15/home_org.php and the second page http://206.214.218.15/page2.php in which I've removed the HTML from the layout grid (you will see the space it occupies) which displays the entire page.

And, in the original http://206.214.218.15/page1.php the code works but the HTML is the only thing on the page - although it is still not picking up the CHARSET in the page HTML.

The table is a random data so if you load the page and don't see what I mean by the CHARSET not working, keep refreshing until one of the texts shows up with French characters instead of just English.

If needed, I can provide the actual PHP statement being used without identifying info...

Thanks for whatever help you might offer.

The code you have added is invalid.

Code: Select all

<table style="width: 329px; height: 425px;" border="0" "font-size: 12px;">
Please note that I cannot assist you with programming related issues. This is outside the scope of support I can give you.

Thank you Pablo - for catching the code issue. This has been fixed along with font size being specified so it was visible.

I discovered that the html object would not inherit the charset of the page. I fixed this with echo charset in the php code.

Everything is working great except: I have discovered that when viewing in different size portals, the html object is semi fixed. Meaning that when the portal size is reduced from the page size, the html object overflows outside of the grid and does not remain inside the grid. I did drag the object into the grid. Is this fixable? Or, perhaps I am doing something wrong? Do i need to add some class to the html object? If so, any suggestions?

View here: http://206.214.218.15/home_org.php

The html object is top right under "Ties That Bind"

Thanks

The software does not modify your code, it will be published "AS IS".
So, you will need to make your code flexible yourself.
