The Orbit Slider is now available from the main extension site - here. The extension provides a fully customisable slider capable of displaying an unlimited number of slides containing images or text slides containing any valid html mark-up. Options are comprehensive and you can....

* Create slides with HTML text, including links and any valid mark-up.
* Enter slides in any numbered sequence but all slides sorted in sequence.
* Mix text slides with image slides.
* Select a variety of slide animation options, speed and 'timer' opacity.
* Auto Start and Pause on hover.
* Choose to show navigation buttons or not.
* Customise navigation button images and positions.
* Enable bullet, thumbnail or main navigation or no have navigation.
* Enable captions for image slides.
* Customise caption background, caption text and include html such as links.

It is highly recommended that you read the supplied HELP file before attempting to use this extension or if you are requesting support.

Original code from Zurb.

Paul I have just tried your extension by adding two slides (png) without defining any thumbnail images. In preview it does not show anything (Blank Space). Didn't have time to go through the User guide. Is there anything else I should be doing?

Probably the first thing to do is look at the published file set. Your two images are currently in the root folder. Move them to the /images/ folder.

The second thing to do is take a look at the PDF as it does explain some of the 'issues' and limitations.

This is absolutely fantastic! Just one question -- is there a way to make the slides themselves into links? I'd love for my visitors to click on a slide they like and go directly to that page.

Thanks!
Susanna

Susanna,

An image slide that is a link to another page or something? The original slider code didn't cater for that so the answer is effectively no BUT you can add a caption and link from that.

Exactly -- an image slide that links to another page. I want to have all the text on the slide itself (the slides are artsy), so I was hoping that the slides themselves could like to other pages. Is there a workaround? Or maybe just a suggestion for the next version?

Thanks for the quick reply!

Susanna,

I can only really work with the original authors code and turn that into an extension. So if the original code doesn't allow for something I can't really introduce it - mainly because I don't have enough of the coding skills required.

So my suggestion is two fold:
1. Use the caption facility, which you can probably make quite subtle or

2. Find another slider out there that does exactly what you need and then maybe someone, maybe me ;), will turn that into an extension (with the original author's permission of course.

Paul I will give you a email tomorrow I may have a solution to this for you, its late and I am about ready to turn in as I have had a hetic past few days and really should be resting, the fix I dont think will upset the original author or the extensions workings but you can test it before you decide if you wish to implement it or not....

They can now!

The latest release now includes links. See demo page.

Many thanks to Baconfries (again!!) for getting this requested feature to work.
