Re: Orbit Slider (free)
Paul I have just tried your extension by adding two slides (png) without defining any thumbnail images. In preview it does not show anything (Blank Space). Didn't have time to go through the User guide. Is there anything else I should be doing?
Running WYSIWYG Web Builder since 2007...
Re: Orbit Slider (free)
Probably the first thing to do is look at the published file set. Your two images are currently in the root folder. Move them to the /images/ folder.
The second thing to do is take a look at the PDF as it does explain some of the 'issues' and limitations.

Re: Orbit Slider (free)
Susanna,
An image slide that is a link to another page or something? The original slider code didn't cater for that so the answer is effectively no BUT you can add a caption and link from that.

Re: Orbit Slider (free)
Susanna,
I can only really work with the original authors code and turn that into an extension. So if the original code doesn't allow for something I can't really introduce it - mainly because I don't have enough of the coding skills required.
So my suggestion is two fold:
1. Use the caption facility, which you can probably make quite subtle or
2. Find another slider out there that does exactly what you need and then maybe someone, maybe me
, will turn that into an extension (with the original author's permission of course.

Re: Orbit Slider (free)
Paul I will give you a email tomorrow I may have a solution to this for you, its late and I am about ready to turn in as I have had a hetic past few days and really should be resting, the fix I dont think will upset the original author or the extensions workings but you can test it before you decide if you wish to implement it or not....

They can now!schilnick wrote: -- is there a way to make the slides themselves into links? I'd love for my visitors to click on a slide they like and go directly to that page.
The latest release now includes links. See demo page.
Many thanks to Baconfries (again!!) for getting this requested feature to work.
Re: Orbit Slider (free) [UPDATED]
19/09/11 : Updated to correct an error that was introduced in the previous update. New property added to allow mixed slide types; e.g. you can now have one slider that contains Image Only slides with Text slides with Captioned slides and with Linked slides.
Note: For existing users you will need to populate the new property (Slide Type) for each slide you have specified before any pages will work correctly.

UPDATED: Orbit Slider (free)
10/11/11 : Having only realised I could do this yesterday (doh!) I have modified this extension (and all my extensions - see list below) so that the live rendering of the extension in design view is greatly improved. In many cases the design view will take on a background colour you set in the extension properties.
Updates available from the WWB extensions site and my own demo site. Remember to check out the extensions listed below.
Anything Slider
Automated ToolTip
Directory Listing
Elastic Thumbnail Menu
Image Information Panels
Image Swap Menu
Kick-Butt-Mega-Menu
Photo Info
Simple Horizontal Accordion
Slide Down Box Menu
Stacked Images
tab Slide Out

Re: Orbit Slider (free)
Two things you are doing wrong....
[1] You haven't read the help file.
[2] Your images get published to the root folder - these need to be MOVED to the /images folder - as it says in item 7 of the Known Limitations.

Re: Orbit Slider (free)
Susanna,
A preview in WWB wont put the images where they need to be - as these all get published to the root. So to see how your menu is looking you first need to do a Local Publish, then open Windows Explorer to move the files. Then you can open the page in your browser and see how it looks.
Once you have performed a local publish you can see any future changes you make by doing another local publish. Second and subsequent publishes will continue to dump your images into the root folder but they are also already in the correct folder, /images, because you moved them there after the first publish.
So unless you change an image you will always be able to see your menu after a local publish. If you do change an image, local publish and move the new image(s) from the root to /images.
When you are done and the menu is how you want it, at the final publish just delete the duplicate images from the root folder.

Re: Orbit Slider (free)
Adendum,
I have added this to a site i am working on, when I preview all is well, but when I publish i get a horizontal scroll bar. I have done process of elimination and found it is the extension. Any ideas why or how to get rid of the scroll bar?? Link below is to the page.

Re: Orbit Slider (free)
Imafireman,
I don't see a horizontal scroll bar when I view your page. I see four slides therefore you are showing four navigation bullets. If you don't want to see those you can change the settings in the extension - section D set to False.

Re: Orbit Slider (free)
hmmm..... I see one in FF,IE, and safari. I like the bullets thats why I have them showing, but if I take them off the scroll bar does go away.
Have a look at the screen shot. Like I said its only when i publish the site, and its not the hosting, cause it happens on my free account and my godaddy account.
any ideas??

Re: Orbit Slider (free)
Ahh, sorry was looking for something entirely different.
Yes I know exactly what. There is a class statement in the CSS file called .orbit-bullets and it's set to 200%.
I need to figure out why I or the original author did that. But in the short term you can make a manual 'fix' for this by opening the CSS file in the published /orbit/ folder and change the line :-
.orbit-bullets {
position: absolute; width:200%; z-index: 1000; ..............
to 100%
I'm a little tied up right now but I'll get to it later today.

UPDATED: Orbit Slider (free)
Version 1.0.0.5
16/01/12 : Added option to alter bullet area widths.
With regard to the above issue...I have no idea how or why this area was set to 200%. So I have added a new property "Bullet area width" with a default setting of 100% that allows you to change this to lower or higher values, up to a maximum of 200%.
Available from the extension site or my demo site.

that worked...Thanks
Re: Orbit Slider (free) - UPDATED
20/02/12 : All image content now published to sub-folders to the /orbit folder.
You may need to re-link any images if you open a project that uses an earlier version of this extension. Earlier versions of this extension required published images to be moved to the /images folder. Now ALL the images are all automatically published to separate sub-folders under the /orbit folder; e.g.:-
/orbit..........(holds bullet, timer images and pause)
...../buttons.......(holds main navigation buttons)
...../slides.........(holds all images used as slides)
...../thumbs.......(holds all thumbnail images)

Re: Orbit Slider (free)
You'll have to create a separate page with the second Orbit Slider.
Add an Inline Frame to the first page and call in the second page you just created.

Re: Orbit Slider (free)
Dumb question - is there anyway to justify the "caption text" left or right as opposed to it being centered?

Re: Orbit Slider (free)
Rob,
Probably. But I'd have to dig around in the CSS and then modify the extension to add that capability. No time to do that at the moment but I'll put it on my lengthy To Do list. Will let you know.

Rob,
It's done but I am having serious issues trying to upload it back to the Extensions database. Have emailed Pablo for assistance!
Any other extension developers experiencing issues uploading or editing the developer side of the system?

Perfecto! (text padding would be a bonus but I was able to workaround it by adding spaces in front of the caption) Thank you so much. You are awsome!
