As jalbum is a software it is intended for individual use on your PC meaning that it cannot be made into a extension, when using jalbum you also need the the softwares FTP to upload the album either to jalbum (Which costs) or to your own site this is explained on there site, also even thoughthe program is free it is only for personal use if you are going to use with a commercial site then you are required to pay month http://jalbum.net/en/accounts?ref=footer so even though it maybe open source it still requires the program to make the gallery/upload and cannot be used for commercial use without a fee...

Can I use jAlbum for commercial purposes?

jAlbum is free to use for commercial web sites, our only requirement is that you link back to our site either in the album (there's a link in almost all skins) or if you prefer from another page on your web site. We hope you think that's fair. However, if you'd like to charge for jAlbum software or as a part of a commercial offering/package, you need a license agreement from us. Please contact business@jalbum.net for further information.

This is a Desktop Application you install your computer or a 30 day free trial period using jalbums uploading feature...

We cannot build an extension from a desktop application. You can download this and build away if you choose to... :P

I Know its a desktop application, I've been using it ! But BACON Fries is Still wrong in saying it requires a fee to use for commercial use on a site - NO IT DOES NOT. iT IS FREEWARE You can choose to use their gallery hosting and pay or upload to your own space for free -

The questions of whether it is practical/possible to build an extension is separate.

Do we have a gallery like this?

Posted: Fri Aug 19, 2011 1:56 pm

I do not know if we have a match with this.
We do have many, but I am particularly impressed by the thumbnails and that they are linked to the main panels.
Do let me know if we have something like this, or of course any one of the knights successfully tilting a lance?

I happened across this site - http://www.seomoves.org/ - and was impressed by the menu system. So it begs the question....have we got an extension like this?

If not....who wants to have a go at one!!!!

Request to be guided to a simple gallery

Posted: Fri Aug 26, 2011 4:37 pm
by amrajadhyaksha
I am looking for a simple image gallery with a main pic and thumbnails which can be positioned on the top / bottom/ left / right (any ONE position per gallery / page).
I could not locate one that answers to this requirement.
I require this for an offline presentation on a CD for anyone wanting to view it, so PHP cannot be used.

The Sliverlight gallery did not work though I published the page to the root folder. I had installed the latest Silverlight plugin from Microsoft. The Silverlight 1.0 plugin was not available.
I would also like to know if the viewers also need Silverlight on their computers to see work executed with Silverlight. If yes, then it's a no no as Silverlight hardly has any users in India.

The Tiny Animated Slideshow has a thumbnail bar at the bottom but it cannot be positioned on top / left / right.
Please let me know if I have skipped any one of the existing extensions that can easily help with this result.

I believe this is a desktop aplication. If so, no extension can be made of this.

Hi, i wonder if any boudy know of a Photoalbum that behaves like this:
I want it to function like the original wwb photoalbum but insted of showing all the thumbnail images i want it to show only one image and when you click on that image then all the thumbnails will show upp.

@ Patrik iden if you can find a "Free Script" and not and not a software application that does then maybe just maybe one of the builders may make it into a extension....

@Navaldesign, Re: Desktop application

Hi,
Can you explain, just for my knowledge what qualifies for looking at as a possible extension, and why a Desktop Application does not?
Visual Lightbox is an application, yes.

Re: SUGGEST FOR EXTENSION DEVELOPMENT

Posted: Fri Sep 02, 2011 11:50 am
by Navaldesign
Desktop applications run on your own computer, whilst WWB extensions run within WWB itself and their output is visible on the browser when previewed or published.

A desktop application doesn't give you the necesary code to use within the extension builder, so no extension can be made out of it.

Thanks for the patient explanation.
So far, whatever I have suggested does qualify for extensions, but that was fortuitous.
Now, whatever I suggest will have the proper perspective too.

Hi, check out the menu here http://www.businessweek.com/

Looks very simplistic, isn't.
The drop downs on the left turn right.....that's quite common, but the drop downs on the right turn left. That's something every menu wants to be.

hopeful regards,

This was most likely custom made for this site, please note that it is not possible to make into a extension as this would be deemed "Stealing" since the script is not provided "freely" to be used by others and there is no download source available.

Re: SUGGEST FOR EXTENSION DEVELOPMENT

I remember why I slowed up on this one now.......

The problem is that all pages generated by WWB create an inline style tag, as here:-

Code: Select all

<div id="wb_LongText" style="margin:0;padding:0;position:absolute;left:0px;top:0px;width:600px;height:1080px;text-align:left;z-index:0;">
It is the "position:absolute;" that is causing a problem with the jquery code that looks after the iFrame resizing. If I manually delete this from any iframe page (or change to relative) it all works perfectly.....but being a manual process it will be very long winded/troublesome for a larger site.

So somewhere along the line the jquery has to be changed. I have now contacted the original author but it's a big ask, IMHO. So if there is anyone else out there with some jQuery experience that knows how to overcome this I'd be grateful for input.

different approach try and see,also very crude example (crossbrowser in all major browsers)
Chrome doesn't work locally due to restrictions for calling javascript functions,it does work online
There are also some other nicnacs i've used so you can use those too :P

@haakoo:
It's not the CSS that is the problem it's that the jQuery I am using (see earlier post). Because WWB uses absolute positioning the jQuery can't 'see' the iFrame.

I downloaded your DynamicIframeSize+Redirect2IframeStyleOnly.zip but the WB file is corrupt.

@spyrog:
Have downloaded resize-iframe.zip and will look at it today. Where did you get the code from as I'd need to check and get permission from the originator before I can turn it into an extension. No offence, but I can't just take your word for it.
