SUGGEST FOR EXTENSION DEVELOPMENT

Posted: Fri Mar 13, 2009 9:05 pm
by me.prosenjeet
This is to all members, if you like a script or function and wish it was made into an extension. You may suggest in this thread.
Your request may only be entertained if you provide a download link of the script (you will get the link on the home page of the script author or search else where like 'hotscripts.com').

Try to avoid huge scripts and those which require SQL data bases as it may be difficult for many users to create one. Flat text based data bases to be preferred.

But, before you suggest do read the copyright on the script and if it is allows to be distributed free. Do not suggest scripts that are commercial (for sale) and NO nulled scripts please. Also, consider the fact if the script can really be made into an extension.

I request all the extension developers to join hands and make a team- it will benefit us all in developing newer extensions of utility.
(We already have lot many image galleries and image related extensions...think of something new)

download link pasword protected

Hello to all here

I have a reluctant problem solved for the moment by a simple HTACCESS
But an extension would be nice
I have page with lot of download links
I DONT want to protect these paged themselves but the action of download.
HTACCESS do the job but visitor has to enter pass and login for each files which is a pain
I look for a way to login on the website and to give access to the download
Everything I see is to protect page that contain the download links ant that's not what I look for.
I want the visitor know what he can find on the web site. I just want he register to get acces (validate) the dowload link itself
Or at least something like : the visitor click on a download link (pdf file for example), a popup ask for a password (which is stored in a cookie ?)
Next download will not ask for the pass because it check for the cookie
Cookie can expire after one day

I hope to be clear ..

Thanks in advance for your attention

Nice, but you can just enter the actual file into the address bar to download it when you are not logged in :P
It is enough to place the files in a subfolder or in an upper level folder.
For anyone interested, i have updated the demo and zip. The updated download script will NOT display the folder, only the file name. So it would be quite secure.

Random Ads

Recently I had a client request a random display order for several images to be placed in a vertical section on the far right side of their web page. This order needs to be shuffled every time the page is revisited or refreshed - without duplicating an image.

After seeing this done on other sites with ads, and looking for days for a script that could achieve this, I finally found a good free script for this on The Java Script Source. It not only changes the order of images, but it also allows image links, and includes a variable to change the number of images displayed at any one time. You can also choose vertical or horizontal layout, and add borders if desired.

Here is the script: http://javascript.internet.com/miscella ... m-ads.html

I think this would make an excellent extension.

Slide_men menu is not possible to build with the ExtBuilder,i started with another menu but did not found how to make the submenu`s and did send a mail to Support,he did say:its not possible now but I wil look if I can find something to solve this.

The tooltip.
Did you test this tooltip in webbuilder,I think the "extra" slashes wil give problems.
I cannot use the HTML textbox in the Extbuilder for the content with these slashes to insert an image. :?

Code: Select all

<span class="hotspot" onmouseover="tooltip.show('<img src=\'images/x_icon.gif\'/>');" onmouseout="tooltip.hide();">purus eget diam</span>
There are better tooltip scripts than this.

Search for a free to use tooltip script where you can insert text, images and urls what works with the WB code.
If you find a better tooltip than this i make a new one.

p.s. i`am rebuilding at this time some old extensions like this hoverbox.

Take a look at this:

Image

I am building this with Visual Basic using COM Technology. It allows you to use the following image formats such as JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF or even native Photoshop PSD!, it also creates thumbnails and gives you a preview, features currently not available using standard Extension Builder. It is still under development and due to my busy schedule, I can only work on it on weekends, further more COM technology is still experimental in WWB and need Pablo to come up with a more powerful sample for implementing images.

So stayed tuned and hopefully I will have this if everything works out well.

This would be nice extension

Hello Nicolas_PL and bendigo,

I made this extension a while ago, several versions actually.
but there where some problems with it, (HTML text box(?)).
I found there was also too much fiddling with caption and etc
so I never released it.
but removing HTML text box seems to work alright,
still too much caption fiddling for me . .

but, I might as well release it like this.

Sure, it's a very great one, and as Eddy says in my last post, it can handle dynamically a whole folder. So visitors can upload themselves new images !
It will be a very great extension !

There are already a few extensions that use jquery to control them so yes extensions could be made from the url you gave but it needs a builder to make them or you could try making them for yourself...

jQuery Accordion Widget - Version 1.01

jQuery Dialog Widget - Version 1.0

Guys,
Have a look at this free script from phpjabbers to watermark images while display.

http://www.phpjabbers.com/phpexample.php?eid=20
Can this be made into an extension?

Frankly, image display extensions are too many around on the WB forum. Lets work on something different now! :D

True, but they are giving it as a download the font that is:
I am going to use arial font which you can also download
So if we put that in the 'files for upload' in an extension, will it not work?

Well it depends on where they want you to place it. For example I could not use your Error 404 as it required to be placed in a specific place and I think as soon as you have to start to tinker with that, you might as well manually add the script to your page.

I know that maybe none of the effects you will see on this site are free. However, I was terribly impressed, and only wish to share with all of you. Perhaps the designers amongst us will find the concepts useful.
And maybe some will even develop extensions.

Please visit http://www.designkitchen.com and their portfolio sites. The work is terrific.

We already have a curved text Extension which I just love.
My problem is that my hand is not so fluent at drawing smooth curves.
If there is a way that beziers or something similar could be provided to shape the curve into smoothness while going from point A to point B, the extension would be more meaningful for people like me too.
Thanks.
