Way to do this really easy online store..

Post by etcbbu »

Hi all,

I've been doing some reading at these locations:

http://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/webshop.html
viewtopic.php?f=39&t=16668
viewtopic.php?f=39&t=44305

And I've got a question on what'd be the best way to do an online store for this client of mine:

http://www.belladonnaoftyler.com/giftcards.php

The store needs to sell literally ONLY ONE ITEM--GIFT CARDS.

The only two things I need it the store to be able to do are

- allow the user buying a gift card to specify an American dollar amount of money they want the gift card to be worth, input it
- alternatively, allow the user to be able to choose from a drop-down menu of services (like for instance, the one that you see on the form on this page, with the Label "Service you would like:" http://www.belladonnaoftyler.com/makeanappointment.php )

So I'm only selling one item--Gift Cards. It's just, user needs to be able to specify the dollar amount they want the gift card to be worth, or else choose from a drop-down box of which service they'd like the gift card to be for, and then be charged that amount.

So then, in actuality, I guess since I'm be doing that second thing I mentioned, where they could choose the service and be charged however much the service is, I guess *technically* THAT would constitute "more than one item" then, wouldn't it?

Anyway, as far as payment processing, they don't mind just using their basic PayPal account and accepting credit/debit cards that way, and letting PayPal get its little cut of each transaction.

So for that type of store, what would y'all recommend?

adex,

Thank you. I am now reading through the Webshop_Plus_v3_Manual.pdf file.

I'm wondering if anyone has any insight for me, as I have

- downloaded Webshop Plus! .zip file onto my computer
- logged on to my root folder on FTP, and moved the entire "cart" folder from my harddrive onto my root.
- logged onto my domain, which was <mydomain.com>/cart/admin
- I've now logged in, and have filled out the "Admin Details" tab

So now, the next step for me is, on my hard-drive, go to

- <my project file's folder on my harddrive>
- navigate to the folder I made called "webshop"
- open the webshop_plus3.wbs file

Correct?

This Webshop is AWESOME.

Sorry for the double-post, but before I move forward with all of the set-up and customization that I need to do and everything, here are the two reasons I wanted to post what I'm doing right now:

1) - I want to make sure that it sounds like I have done everything correctly up until now.

2) - I have to make sure this Webshop solution can do this *one* thing I'm trying to do: I'm trying to see if I can make it to where the customer can set the price they want to pay, and then paypal will let them pay that price that the customer sets. I just want to make sure that I can configure this webshop to do this, before I continue anymore on installing it. This is what is the whole purpose of my web-store--I just need it to sell a gift card. That's *literally* the only thing I need to sell on it. So that's literally one product. I just need users to be able to enter in the price they want for the gift-card, though, and then PayPal charge them for that amount.
