Yes, I visited this one already, but:
1) Is it done using the WWB extension?
2) If not, how customizable will it be? What if what I see doesn't match the general design of my website, here:

1. No. This is a separate script you install on your server. For the front end, it will give you the code to enter into a code object on your page.
2. You can view their demo to see exactly what the front and backend looks like. As far as your design, if you are referring to colors/fonts/etc. you can change those but will need to do so in the code. There is nothing in the backend that lets you change this stuff easily.

I have used their scripts many times and they are pretty good. You can reach out to them and have them tailor the scripts to your liking by adding additional functionality at an additional cost.

No, it is a stand alone script.

All the scripts are customizable. If you need help in doing so the php jabbers team can help for a fee.

At the price it is selling at you have nothing to really lose..

OK, thanks

I understand that on top of that , the customer will need to establish an account with PayPal or another Payment Gateway provider

Cheers

Correct, also as the client is going to be receiving payments they should also obtain a ssl certificate, this is to ensure the customer there details are safe.

In paralel, I checked the PayPal merchant account options, there are several options with different charges (here in Australia anyway)
The basic one says that the money paid by the customer is immediatly deposited into the PayPal merchant account, that means that the merchant needs to manually transfer the money into their business bank account....

Is this the same in the UK?

Cheers
