Email Formatting with Forms

Post by robertgroff83 » Wed May 09, 2018 8:55 pm

Gents,

Here is an odd one that I'm not sure if there is a possible fix.

When you send a form via email it sends all of the correct information however the formatting is off with the Text Area once the email receives it. It looks correct on the site but the email doesn't show correctly no matter what email server you use. For example:

Site form looks like this:

Name: John Smith
Location: Georgia
Issue: 3 issues : 1. Its broke
2.I killed it
3.I pulled the plug

The email receives this:

Name: John Smith
Location: Georgia
Issue: 3 issues : 1. Its broke2.I killed it3.I pulled the plug

It combines everything into one line for the formatting with the "Issue" field. Is there a setting I am missing? If this is not fixable would it be possible for the future to possibly use TinyMCE or a text editor to correct?

You can set the format in Form properties->Form Processing->Edit.
How to format the email message sent by a form?

My apologies BaconFries I knew I left something out.

I have it formatted with HTML because I have a image at the top of the email being sent. So my formatting is like this

<strong>What was the search criteria utilized?</strong>$What-was-the-search-criteria-utilized?<br>
<strong><br>
Checklist:$Checklist<br>
<br>
<br>

When they put the checklist in the formatting on the site is:
1. test1
2.test2
etc...

The email formatting shows:
1.test12.test2etc....

The browser does not add line breaks <br> to submitted Text Area data, so it will be included is the email message as it was entered.

That's what I was thinking but I was hoping there was some HTML code that would state to keep the formatting the same as what was entered in the filed. Oh well thanks anyways everyone!
