special text characters showing as diamond shapes
in the process of moving to a new host
in the footer of the page the copyright and trademark symbols in a regular text object are showing as diamond shapes with a question mark

Looks like your new host/server uses unicode or may require it so you will need to set the charset of your pages to UTF-8. If this is already enabled then you will need to contact your host/server and ask them to enable unicode if they can. Also if the page has a form then you should also enable UTF-8 in its properties.o

just changed toutf8 in page properties and went back to normal
would this also affect a login page using a my sql database
some of the user names and password that have special characters can not login

Yes as already mentioned if you use a form (login) then you should also enable utf-8 in the forms properties.

I am having the same problem with only one of my websites on the same server. I am using WYSIWYG web builder 14 but am not sure where to change the toutf8 in page properties. Can someone direct me on how to do that?
