Images not displaying after publishing

Post by Thumper »

I am using the most recent version of WYSIWYG (v.16.0.4 - 25 Oct 2020) and have begun a new project. I have never had this issue on any other projects. After I publish the project everything shows (i.e., menu, texts..I have only done a header and adjusted for responsive pages of Default/768/320) EXCEPT for the images. This occurs in Chrome and Firefox as well as in incognito/private windows in both those browsers. I also tried it in Microsoft Edge with the same results. The images were all uploaded into the "images" folder and the publish.log shows all files uploaded with no errors. When I preview the site locally, all the images show perfectly. The site is https://janbferguson.com

I have been using WYSIWYG since May 2012 with version 8.x. I have never had anything like this occur. All the extensions are properly defined in Tools|Options|Publish and am only using PNG and JPG images. All the files appear properly in the /publish_html/ home and image folders when checked in FileZilla, and all the file and folder attributes are configured at 755.

I have just recompiled and published all the files in other projects that contain numerous images to see if I would get the same problem under the new version (16.0.4) and the image issue DID NOT occur. I am at a loss as to know why this is occurring in this new project. I'm not doing anything differently than I did with the scores of projects I have created with WYSIWYG in the past without any image issues. Any assistance would be appreciated.

it is difficult to help you without seeing what you have done.

But maybe the filenames are invalid?

The file names are all valid. For what it's worth, in previous projects I have used upper-case letters with no issues. But this project has all lower-case file names.

Here is the project: https://sharesync.serverdata.net/us4/s/ ... Mh003e95d9

I am sorry but your image(s) are invalid! viewing the source you can see this. Note the %2 in the image name that replaces the - this makes the naming invalid...

Please read the following regarding this
https://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/forum ... f=10&t=131
Note this is related to the browser and not the program as the browser sees it as being invalid and replaces the - with %2

Okay...I'll accept that image file, although in previous projects I have had a hyphen in the image file name and they show properly.
What about the single word image files...facebook.jpg, linkedin.jpg, instagram.jpg, whatsapp.jpg, messenger.jpg? They are showing up either!

Your project seems to be working correct for me, in all browsers.
What exactly do I need to do to see the problem?

I don't know. Try viewing the page, https://janbferguson.com

Here's a screen shot of what I see in ALL my browsers, and my iPad and iPhone when I go to the above URL:

The images are not on the server.
Did you publish all files?

Or else there is an issue on the server side.

I have no idea! It is a GoDaddy CPanel site, set up EXACTLY like my business site, my wife's site, test sites I have used...all as separate folders under /public_html/

I'm gping to wipe everything in this project (thankfully it's only a master-header and an embedded page on the index page) and start over.

By the way, on my business site I have 117 images with a hyphen in them and an additional 87 images with spaces in the file name (i.e., "Image File.jpg") and 107 page files and pop-up files that have hyphens in them. That page works fine and has since 2012!

I'll try to figure this out on my own.

They sure are on the server! They are showing on the server not only in the CPanel file manager but in FileZilla as well.

When I view your page and look at the dev tools this is the error i see:
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403
When I directly try to access one of the images (ex: https://janbferguson.com/images/linkedin.jpg) I get a 403 forbidden error. This usually has something to do with incorrect file or folder permissions or incorrect settings in your .htaccess file. I would contact your host for this as this is a hosting issue and not a WB issue.
