Preview as expected but published Chrome & Safari have problems

Post by purelypilates » Fri Dec 21, 2018 2:22 pm

Hi

Newbie, first post.

My site is in development and is being published to a sub-folder on my server for testing. My root folder has the current live site which was developed in Serif Webplus X8. When previewing the site (Chrome & Edge) all looks as expected. When I publish the site the formatting of some pages is wrong and messy when viewing in Chrome (desktop & android) and Safari (ipad). However, it all loads as expected in Edge (desktop & W10 phone).

Could this be something to do with the test site not being in the root folder and/or getting screwed up with the Serif site? But why does it look right in Edge? I'm not very webdev savvy and would appreciate some input.

This is my test site: https://www.purely-pilates.co.uk/test/index.html

Regards,
Bill, UK

I do not see any issues, can you please describe exactly where I need to look?

Tip: please set the HTML formatting options to default, otherwise I cannot read the HTML code.

Hi Pablo

Have set HTML to default and re-published.

I am still getting the issues (Chrome). Of the 5 main pages index & contact are ok. Teacher Training page - from section headed 'Summary of courses we run' headers and body text swapping sizes and colours, some buttons are displaying normal (blue) and hover (green) side by side, alignment issues. The table at the bottom of the page is showing cells in different font sizes. Classes page - actually displaying ok now but previously the Pay Now buttons (HTML frags) were all over the place. About page - pictures and people bios aligned left when they should be central. The Gofor picture much larger than it should be, then text wrong sizes / colours and some missing text around the section that has the more> buttons. It is all displaying as it should on Edge.

Just tried it on a separate laptop (Windows / Chrome). The Teacher training page loads as it should, but the about page has the same problems as above.

Thanks, Bill

For me, it looks exactly the same in all browsers.
The only issue I have found is the image filenames.
There should not be spaces in filenames. This may cause problems in some some browsers.

Took out image name spaces. Cleared all caches, locally and on server. Preview is exactly as expected with no errors on Chrome developer tools. Re-published. Looks much better. However, Affix Header & jsquery go up not working from server. All of the served pages are showing these errors in Chrome developer tools:

I don't understand!

I assume you are still referring to this page?

It works for me. And the jQuery script is on the server.
Maybe your browser blocks the script for some reason?

Yes,it's the same page. I got the same problem in Chrome, Edge and my linked Android device. But it work for you and I've just tried it on my wife's laptop - all working as expected. Mystery .. obviously something to do with my setup?

Are you sure you have cleared your browser cached?
Also, did you check your firewall settings? Maybe the script file is blocked?

Cleared the Cache and it is working now. Looks like I should be doing a full clear each time rather than page re-loads.

BTW I updated to 64-bit the other day. It is great!

Many thanks.
