I have my new site ready for publishing.
Before publishing I want to test it in the web.
My question is how to do this because I already have an index page under the same domain name and
I am afraid of messing files.
Thank you.

Re: Test publishing new site
You can try to publish the website to a sub folder of your website.
For example, create a folder 'test' and publish all files to that folder.

Re: Test publishing new site
OK, I will try this.
Re: Test publishing new site
I have a question though.
This way I will have duplicate index pages, one of the current web site and
another created from the new folder "test".
How I deal with this?

Re: Test publishing new site
The index page will be in a different folder, so it will not affect the main website.

Re: Test publishing new site
As Pablos suggested you could also add no follow and no index to the test site so to stop Google indexing the test site/pages.
