How to center stuff in the middle of the master_frame page

Post by UncleEti » Thu Sep 20, 2018 4:11 pm

Hello everybody,
I have again some work to do on my site, adding basically a page. I was away for a few months and I hope I am not asking something answered 1000 times in the between.
I am using a master-frame. Very usefull of course. But is there a way to be sure my stuff will be centered in the master-frame page?
See here and you 'll see what's wrong. It's not the end of the world but still....

Thank you very much.

You can set the alignment of the page in the page properties -> Center in browser window.
Do this for both the page and the master frame.

Works fine with IE Opera Safari Edge, and chrome but not Firefox

I did not browserhsot the pages using only recent versions.
I suppose that's it.
Thanks anyway.

The page width is set to 1600px, so it will center everything based on that value.

See this related FAQ:

Yes it does.. except with firefox. The difference with what you say is I don't have : "Center in browser window." but only "center horizontally". Does it refer to two different things?
Tks

You are right, I meant '"center horizontally".

For me, the alignment does not look good in any browser. The page width is too wide.
The content is only 850 pixels, so that should also be the width of the page.

The problem is I wanted to use an image as a background but without changing the pproportions. Ok, thanks, I think I got what you say; I have probably to find some compromise there (as often in web designing, isn't it?). Thank you for your appreciable quickness of reaction.

The page width does not affect the background image. The background will always be full screen.

Yes but it becomes tiled (multiplied) on a 1600 screen, so I prefer having a white surrounding and only one picture displayed.

Now it's centered, I choose 1130px widht (I don't remember how I arrived there (!) but it seems reasonnable compromise)

Basically now I have really a cross-platforms site -good for many many browsers-it's a huge improvement. Thanks again.
