Back Up FTP Locations and FTP Wanderer

Post by Starb7 » Fri Jun 23, 2017 4:07 pm

Hi

I have a two-parter query.

I use CuteFTP to do manual FTP to web sites and for some reason, that no longer works in W10 Creators so I am looking at Pablo's FTP Wanderer app. It occurred to me that perhaps you use the same format of 'sites' that you use in WWB and so:

1. Can I Export from WWB and Import into FTP Wanderer all the sites I have?
2. How do I create a backup of the sites I have in WWB?

TIA

Cheers

Paul

No, that is not possible.
How do I create a backup of the sites I have in WWB?
Publish locations are stored in 'publish.dat'

... any chance of doing that? I have nearly 60 odd sites in WWB and so it would be great if I can get them into FTPW :D

Why aren't you using the built-in FTP?

I am but there are files I upload out of WWB too.

I have been testing a number of third party tools and tried such as FileZilla, WinSCP, CuteFTP Pro, CoreFTPLite and a few others. All work fine but a bit OTT for what I needed.

FTP Wanderer is ideal, simple and just works fine. What I needed was to get the database from my old to FTPW and have done that now. All seems to work fine but there are a couple of suggestions if I can make them here? They are:

1. A way to import WWB into FTPW or better still, use the same Connections data file :)
2. In FTPW, if you have a lot of connections, when you drag one up to move to another folder, the window does not scroll. You gave to zoom the Site Manager window to full size.
3. When you create a new folder, it can only go at the bottom, ie you can't drag it to the top or anywhere else other than within another folder
4. A fixed 'Site Manager' panel would be great rather than selecting from the menu bar.

I like this s/w and think it will do just fine - thanks for creating it!

EDIT: Just tried a 'bigger download', a folder with multiple files and it has struggled a bit and unresponsive when I tried to Cancel the download. Also, I note it only downloads one file at a time even though I haver set it for multiple connections - is that right?

Cheers
