links not working

Post by kingchris » Wed Sep 27, 2017 10:07 am

Hi guys, have been using WB9 for a few years and updated to WB12, fantastic what you can do now :)

However im having a few issues with links placed inside layout grids, in a 4 box layout grid, i can place link in all of them, but when i preview or upload only a couple will work.

Yes i have checked to make sure its labeled correctly ( i can use the same link path and it will work in some sections) i have made sure that no other scroll or mouse over css is active, i have moved the items to front, but i still get a few dead links.

Am i missing something or are you restricted to how many links can be used in layout grids??

Chris

What is the URL of the page so I can see what you have done?
Where exactly on the page do I need to look to see the problem?

Can you please be more specific?
Where exactly on the page are the non-working links?

the hyperlink "Latest newsletter" under "news from the board", at the bottom of the same passage " HERE" is another link, on the column next to it, "check out whats happening" only the last 1/3rd of the link works, Maitland OPM, No1 opm and No2 opm only the last section of the link works (highlights) the link in the last column works fine. at the bottom of the page the header " office recreation & sport " only one 1/2 of the link is active.

Its as if only the right hand side of the layout grids allow links and the left hand side wont allow them, i have the same issue on other pages when i preview them

The reason why those links do not work is because there is something on top of them (MainPageContentPlaceHolder1).
Note that has nothing to do with the layout grid.

Also note that the page alignment (in Page Properties) should be off when using layout grids.

You can use master frames and layout grids, but not the way you have done it now.
You have now mixed floating and absolute layout, which will cause overlaps.

See this related tutorial:

Found it, you dont need to have the content holder to cover the area as in previous version, you only need to place it on the header page.. thank you for your help, its been driving me nuts
