Save a JPG file via a link

Post by gregbarnes » Thu Feb 22, 2018 2:49 am

I want to have site visitors download a .JPG file by clicking a button.
I entered the link (using a SHAPE button) as "https://www.isacimages.com.au/WGC-Honour-Board.jpg". The link finds the .JPG file and just opens it in a my default viewer on my PC. I have used this method for .ZIP files and .PDF files and I get the "OPEN or SAVE" option box as I want.
Is there a way to make this work for image files such as .GIF or .JPG? OR ... does this same method not work for image files?
Cheers for now,
Greg

The browser determines what will happen when you click a link to a jpg. This is a user preference, so the behavior is different for each browser or user.

You can do this by using php to force a download. If you do a search of the forum using "force download" without the quotes you should finds results with reference to this.

You can also make a .zip archive for the .jpg file, then the download function works automathic.
