Re: Designing for mobile users

Thanks both for the pointers.... This particular website (more of a web-page) has been mooted for at least the last 18 months - so, once the client comes up with the content, I'm hoping he won't want it done 'immediately'. My other business is staned-glass and fused-glass - and I'm at the back end o...

Re: Designing for mobile users

I've tried the 'fully responsive' mode with the layers and stuff provided here, but I found it quite limiting as I only have partial control over where things go. So, I now write using the 'adaptive' method. I have done 4 sites so far and all seem to work as I expect them to. I set the default brea...

Re: Designing for mobile users

Yep, I resisted for a couple of years then realized I had to bite the bullet and go with the flow, a frustrating but interesting exercise. Understand about the 'interesting' aspect - just a matter of finding the time... as web design isn't really my main activity any more.... Old dog, new tricks an...

Re: Designing for mobile users

Hi Roger Thanks.... To be honest - I've kind of shied away from the whole 'adapting to mobile phones' issue - but it seems that an awful lot of people are browsing the web on mobile devices.. so I guess I'd better try and catch up! It was just this question of where the 'bottom end' is....? - before...

Designing for mobile users

HI Folks I know that there's a separate 'responsive design' forum - but this is probably less of a detailed techy quesition - and more of a general one..? Nowadays, I don't do a lot of website design - mostly maintaining my own website and just a few other 'older' sites. All of these have 'Google-fr...

Re: shopping cart postage

(Aren't they always!) So true.... This one especially. The product is a seasonal crop - some of which may be available 'now', some may be pre-ordered for delivery once it is ready, or if <now> is later in the year, may be shipped now - and customers can order all of one type or a mixture. Postage i...

Re: shopping cart postage

Actually - don't worry about replying....

Turns out the problem / the client's requirements are a great deal more complicated than I outlined.
(Aren't they always!)

Thanks for the info about the Paypal shipping options though.

Re: shopping cart postage

HI Bacon Thanks for the reply. I had no idea that was possible - but then, the client's site is something of a 'legacy' site... I emailed him yesterday to say that I'd look into it - he's responded this morning with "There's no need for a calculating weight system - as the shipping costs for 1 to 20...

shopping cart postage

HI Folks A client's site currently runs with the Paypal shopping cart - using the 'Add to Cart' and 'Checkout' buttons. Products are currently priced to include postage. Client is asking if it's possible to price the product ex-postage, and for the cart to calculate it based on weight of items in th...

Re: Wysiwyg website plus hosted shop website & Google

Thanks Pablo for the swift reply I was afraid you were going to say that! <grin> I guess making a sitemap 'by hand' (by taking the WB14 one and editing) and uploading it wouldn't be the end of the world - looks to have a fairly simple format. I'd just have to remember to include any new WB14 pages t...

Wysiwyg website plus hosted shop website & Google

HI Folks I've been spending a bit of time & effort trying to sort out my listings in Google.. I've switched from an http:// site to an https:// site, and ironed out the slight confusions that caused with redirections to my simplified mobile site. As well as the WB-built website https://www.inspired-...

Re: 'Missing images' after shared editing

HI Bacon Yes - I've used TeamViewer (usually when I'm out & about on my laptop in order to access my main PC back in the office. This particular instance was a bit more involved, in that there were some 'stray' empty images that had found their way into some of the pages of the project, and it would...

Re: 'Missing images' after shared editing

Hi Pablo
Excellent - thanks!
Fingers crossed then - I hate this 'working at a distance' when you can't see which buttons the client's clicking!

Will report back

Re: 'Missing images' after shared editing

Hi Pablo Thanks for the fast reply. She's sent me the wbs file (but not the images), which I've now returned to her. She reckons that she's put the wbs file (that I've edited) back in the same folder it came from. Looking at my copy of the wbs file - in Asset Manager, all of the image filenames are ...
