It seems tow work correct. For me, it looks exactly the same in Chrome as in other browsers.
Maybe there is problem with your browser?

- open the link properties of the image
- set 'Link to' to 'file' and select another image.
- set the target to 'Open in a lightbox'

You can select the lightbox type in the page properties.

After renaming the index page, all internal links will still be pointing to that page.
However you can use the 'Global Replace' tool to rename the internal links.
